Solstice Coil
APPC 3rd Anniversary!
Happy equinox, everybody! Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the release of our debut album, A Prescription for Paper Cuts! Hard to believe it, ain't it? Also, this is the second anniversary of the launch of our music video for Deep Child, and our first European tour. AND it's also been one year... since... we last noted these events.
It's hard to believe three years have gone by. I mean, boy, time sure does fly! It's like, I've given my best years to this thing! That is, I'VE WASTED ALL MY YOUTH ON THIS OMG!!!
Na, I'm just kidding. Maybe.
Anyway, it's been a good year. We also had our first gig with the new lineup exactly one year ago (With Yatziv Caspi and Noam Aviel), and we've also launched the new site and started our super-cool webcomic. Additionally, material for our second album is ready, and all we need now is some nice rich guys to get us a record deal. All in all, I'd say things are going pretty well.
Side note: I woke up today and saw that the clock on my computer had taken itself one hour back automatically. It was a bit odd, but I figured it being the equinox and all, maybe it somehow makes sense. Maybe it's the official international day to change to winter time (in Israel we change it according to when Yom Kippur strikes.) Then I got to work, and the same thing had happened on my PC at work! However, it did not happen with the computers of the rest of the crew! Then my sister sent me an SMS, telling me the same thing had happened on her computer too! Welcome, to the Twilight Zone...
In the name... of science!
Okay, so while Opher is away, we've decided to give the stage to some guest artists who will draw the comics for us, either based on my scripts or their own ideas. If you're interested in doing that, send me an e-mail.
Therefore, without further ado, I'd like to present you with our first guest artist, my girlfriend! Anyway, I tried to draw this one myself, but she ended up doing it all over again based on my drawings. That's right. I couldn't do stick figures.
This comics, as you've probably noticed, is a tribute to XKCD, one of the most popular webcomics in all of the internets. The guy likes to write strips that involve cyncism, science and romance. I tried to follow his lead. Only problem is, I don't know jack shit about math or physics, so those of you who do, will probably find that this comic strip makes no sense. The rest of you won't even notice.
I'll be latter-money-putting as well
Mainly, because the very same Ryan Sohmer also has another comic on the topic of fantasy role playing, what have nowdays become homonymous with World of Warcraft. The comic is called Looking for Group and is definitely worth checking out, if not only for the character of the Richard, the aptly named warlock. I came accross a banner that captured the essence of Richard perfectly in one sentence: He is seen pointing at a building and saying "You all saw it! That orphanage attacked me!". Cute.
Other than the comic, Sohmer has some super interesting features on the site like "what book am I reading", "what book am I waiting to read" and hold on to your pants, "what book am I waiting to wait to read"! That guy has way too much free time on his hands... Well, at least he uses it for good, not evil.
And that's when I bought the horse a prostitute

Things have been kinda slow at work lately. So slow that I can actually post on the blog from work! Well, it's also because the boss isn't here today.
Since we have a lot less material to get done, I've been trying my best to decrease my working rate. And let me tell you, it ain't easy!
With the boss constantly looking over my shoulder, I've started reading this webcomic called Least I Could Do. Since I've already read through the entire Sluggy, Rob and Elliot, Shortpacked and Afterstrife archives, I decided to focus on this new daily webcomic that I've found. Plus, I can't access Gmail or Facebook here, so there's pretty much nothing to do on the internets here.
LICD is a webcomic about a guy who likes to get laid a lot, disregard women and constantly degrade his friends. By now I've read through the whole things from 2003 to 2008, and I can't really explain why. It's not even that funny. The plotlines are semi-interesting and the art is pretty good (at least by current artist Lar Desouza. The guy before him drew all the characters exactly the same). I donno, there's something about this guy, Rayne Summers that... er... I donno, I just love this guy! He's rude, obnoxious, practically oblivious (except for times when his creator suddenly wishes otherwise), and nothing seems to really bother him, not even getting a full cavaty search by airport security.
Up until this point, I can't really tell if Rayne's extreme chauvinist behavior is condemed or condoned by his alter ego, creator Ryan Sohmer. Rayne seems to be able to get away with anything, and even gets Keira Knightley to itsawondefullife him and show him that his life choices are just fine and it's all going to turn out right in the future. Oh, and then she gets naked.
Since Sohmer obviously based the character on himself, one question comes to mind: Is he really such a ladykiller, or does the webcomic express his deepest desires? Since this comic is updated daily, I'd have to put my money on the latter.
You have to give it to this guy: this webcomic does in fact update daily, except for Sundays. As far as I've noticed, he hasn't missed a deadline yet. Then again, that probably has an affect on the quality of humor. Although there were some pretty clever strips that made me laugh very hard (on the inside), most punchlines are mundane, or simply nonexistent.
Anyway, since I finished reading the entire thing, now I need something else to help me sabotage my work efficiency. Any suggestions?
