So yesterday I got this email from Shir:

"For some reason I felt like I wanted to draw a sketch of this instead of writing a script. After 20 minutes, I caved. As you can notice from the curves in the lines and the brushes of the pencil, I suck. "

Now, my first thought was to write something about how the ability to draw is not some arcane ability imbued in few chosen ones. I wanted to clarify that drawing is mostly a pure technical skill, and that anyone learn it given enough motiviation and practice. I should have pointed out that most people think they can't improve or "just don't have it", and give up fast before they even tried to learn. I could have assured by saying most great of the great artists' first creations were hideous doodles. But instead of all that, I just started to laugh hysterically...

After the hilarity had subdued, and even though I was much intrigued to find out what happens to disfigured Shir after being devoured by Shai Hulud in panel 2, I knew I had to make the strip.

I personally don't listen to Genesis no matter who sang in it, and what type of animal he sounds like. I find their music way too whimsical to be enjoyed and their title to be kind of presumptuous. I mean, I might have let it slide were they keen on choosing a different book, say, Leviticus, but then again - nothing interesting happens there anyhow.

The flower kings are cool though.
